Current menus, updated wine list, new recipe, some fresh pictures are on their way. Our year ended in a blur and it is only looking back now that I realise 2012 was probably our most frantic year ever, the re-style interior and exterior meant we had at least one of our amazing makeover team with us for the past year and a bit, at the moment Chris and Richard are sorting a leak between the new bedroom floors, our good luck was that it was found before the ceiling caved in! This alongside our book project, training new staff and trying to answer every phone call whilst focusing on the rooms and the restaurant which were full almost every day has left other bits neglected, especially our website, so this is my current proirity.
I have been working hard transcribing recipes by Chris for THE BOOK this has meant working into the small hours. This morning I was seranaded by Sid our resident punk blackbird and his gang. If you think the website soundtrack sounds good I can assure you the real thing is even more impressive.
We are looking for staff both front of house and kitchen and are happy to train the right people, we offer a good package and make sure you have a life outside of work!
The new suites are finished but were almost more of a challenge than we could handle so it’s great the end result is even better than we had hoped for, just a shame we could not do them sooner. After all the works inside we found we needed to sort the exterior as well. Work on Stage 1 is almost complete, the rest will be done in October when we are closed. Hopefully then we can sit back and enjoy.
This is the time year when the salmon come up river to spawn and to see them leaping our weir is a stunning sight. The river was very low so a salmon ladder was installed to help them along their way. Our heron took up residence alongside it treating it as his personal sushi bar,catching the tiny trout also travelling up river. One our regulars was trying to get pictures when he saw a salmon leap straight into the heron’s legs sending him tumbling into the churning waters loosing both the fish and his diginity. A few years ago when the river was also vey low the fish decided here was far enough and started spawning, the river baliffs protecting them ask us to switch off our floodlight, they need more privacy to do their business!
In January we will change our four bedrooms into 2 deluxe suite-rooms, each one will have a sitting room and spa bathroom. The bathrooms will have pool baths and steam rooms for the ultimate in pampering. These rooms will available from mid February alongside our other two existing suites, just call us for more details.
We have had feedback from some of our guests that they have had difficulty using gift vouchers in some establishments. We have always gone to great lengths to ensure all our vouchers are redeemed.
We have tweaked our system to make sure it continues to work for everyone.
We do have gift vouchers available for staying with us, with or without dinner, just call us on 01584 874431 so we can orgaise it for you.
We can only issue vouchers for the restaurant once a date has been arranged.
We suggest you tell or give a card to whoever you wish to give the gift to, asking for some dates that will suit them.
Once a date is booked we will issue a voucher and only at this stage will you be charged.

Just catching our breath – somehow we completely finished the restaurant re-style in October. We are delighted with the end result and with guests compliments, will post some pics asap.
